This is Poundcake
Poundcake Farm is a dream realized by Terry Burgess and Tom Connerty and is a five-acre estate in northwest Barrington Hills, Illinois. It was named for our adopted greyhound, Poundcake. Tom named her because her brindle coat resembled marble pound cake. After a few years we adopted a sister for her, Paczki (pronounced Punch-key), named for the Polish doughnuts available before Lent. Collectively we call them both "The Bakery".
Purchased in 2005, Poundcake Farm had only about two acres of usable land. The rest was cluttered with waist-high weeds, downed and dead trees and remnants of old barbed-wire fencing. After three years of nearly constant work, we're finally making progress. We've removed most of the weeds and dead trees and planted a small orchard. Hopefully, we'll be finishing the landscaping within the next year.
